Mr. L.D. Mittal is the Founder & Chairman of ITL Group, a prominent player in the global agriculture sector. A visionary and a renowned expert fondly known as “The Tractor Titan” is a man of many hues. Mr. Mittal incorporated ITL Group in 1969 for manufacturing farm implements.
1969
The company was originally established as a farm equipment manufacturer to transform the farming industry through new and advanced technologies specific to farmers globally.
1995
Sonalika embarked upon a new journey with its first tractor assembled. In this step, it committed itself to starting new-generation agriculture and laid the foundation for the tractor manufacturing vertical in the farming sector.
1996
The operations were started at Hoshiarpur, Punjab. The plant played key roles in producing and manufacturing tractors, enabling us to continue our mission of providing the best tractors to farmers.
2000
We created strategic partnerships to expand internationally with JV's combined ventures with Renault Agriculture France and Claas Tractors Germany. These partnerships brought highly developed global technologies into its operations, improving its product development activities.
2001
The company acquired indigenous in-house tractor engine manufacturing capabilities, which was seen as a milestone towards becoming a manufacturing hub for agricultural tractors.
2005
Yanmar acquired 12% of the stake in ITL, putting the company on the international market. Later, its first compact tractor was produced due to the increased market need for portable yet efficient farming machinery.
2008
The RX series tractors were launched to provide farmers with scale, high power, reliability, and some advanced features that help them cope with different types of farming.
2009
Later, the launch of the Worldtrac series tractor provided service in heavy agricultural operations and the brand's image.
2011
New tractor models, Gardentrac and the 60 RX MM Super, were introduced to tap the other agriculture-specialized segments and expand the market base further.
2012
The company’s overseas business exceeds 50 countries, showing the company’s strong overseas development and constant efforts to bring quality agriculture solutions to customers worldwide.
2013
It unveiled a new high-tech plant and introduced AC cabin tractors to help farmers improve their farming technology. This highlighted the significance of reinventing agriculture tools to support higher yields in the company.
2014
We grew into India's third-biggest tractor manufacturer, increased global sales to 65 countries, and started working on YM series tractors, all of which stated the company’s intent to innovate and enrich its international presence.
2015
A new state-of-the-art plant was inaugurated, and progressive AC cabin tractors were introduced to express the company’s commitment to technology and enabling farmers.
2016
We launched a new manufacturing plant with an annual production of 3,00,000 tractors and further extended its partnership with Yanmar, Japan, to manufacture new products.
2017
The customer base was expanded internationally to 7,50,000, and tractor exports were 80,000. Yanmar acquired 17.5% additional shares in ITL, and Japanese teams started pouring into Hoshiarpur to improve the products and research and development.
2018
We sold 1 lakh tractors in the fiscal year 2018-19, forayed to start assembly plants in Turkey and Brazil, and introduced the YM series tractors into the market after extensive research and development.
2019
We have customers reaching over 100,000 and operations in more than 120 countries. We also started an assembly plant in the USA, which marked our more significant market presence in international markets.
2021
We were proud to be the largest exporter of India to have a presence in more than 135+ countries. Going one step further, we were able to successfully establish a new branch in the Netherlands broadening our operations internationally.
2022
We introduced stage V tractors, achieving 175,000 loyal customer dealers outside India, styling new models for the YM series, and establishing joint development skills for futuristic agricultural mechanization.
2024
ITL expands its legacy through strategic acquisitions, including Thaler, and a joint venture with Burder (AgAttachments) to drive agricultural innovation.
